Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

Larry Zumwalt

finds documents containing 'Larry' or 'Zumwalt'

Larry or Zumwalt

same as above

Larry and Zumwalt

finds documents containing both 'Larry' and 'Zumwalt'

Zumwalt not Seeley

finds documents containing 'Zumwalt' but not 'Seeley'

(Zumwalt not Seeley) and Rios

finds documents containing 'Rios', plus 'Zumwalt' but not 'Seeley'

Zum*

finds documents containing words starting with 'Zum'

Putting it all together:

(Zum* not See*) and (Rios or Bischoff)

finds documents with Larry Zumwalt and either Anita Rios or Nancy Bischoff mentioned, but not Jan Seeley
